The background of this novel is set in 7th century Syria, following the death of Hazrat Muhammad, when the dispute over the caliphate reached its peak. Abu Bakr emerged victorious, defeating the Shiites, and became the first caliph. He was succeeded by Hazrat Omar Farooq and Hazrat Osman. Hazrat Muawiya, a close companion of Hazrat Muhammad, had a conflict with Hazrat Ali, the fourth caliph. To resolve the dispute, it was agreed that Muawiya would succeed Ali as caliph. The question then arose: who would be the caliph after him? On one side, there was Hasan, the son of Hazrat Ali, and on the other, Yazid, the son of Muawiya. Yazid secretly poisoned Hasan, leading to his death. This set the stage for the fateful Battle of Karbala, where Hasan's brother, Husayn, fought against Yazid's forces.
